ZEKA Firearms: When Passion Drives Precision

In the world of competitive shooting, new manufacturers rarely enter the scene without facing intense scrutiny. The market is dominated by established brands with decades of engineering experience and global distribution networks. Yet every so often, a smaller company emerges with the ambition, craftsmanship, and determination necessary to challenge that status quo.

One such company is ZEKA Firearms, a Czech manufacturer steadily building its presence in the world of sport shooting and personal defense firearms.

During my visit to IWA OutdoorClassics in Nuremberg, I had the opportunity to spend time with representatives of ZEKA at their booth. Although I did not have the chance to test their firearms on the range, the conversation with their team offered valuable insight into the philosophy behind the brand.

What immediately stood out was their enthusiasm and genuine passion for what they are building.

A Family Company With a Clear Vision

One aspect the ZEKA representatives emphasized repeatedly was that their company remains a small, family-driven operation. In an industry where scale and corporate backing often dominate the conversation, this point was not presented as a limitation—but rather as a source of pride.

And rightly so.

In many cases, the greatness of a firearms manufacturer is not measured by the size of its facilities or the number of employees behind its production lines. Instead, it is measured by the quality of its products and the relentless pursuit of improvement.

ZEKA appears to embrace exactly that philosophy: a focused team dedicated to constant evolution in the design and development of their firearms.

Designed With Competition in Mind

Among the firearms displayed at the booth, I had the opportunity to examine several models intended for IPSC competition, particularly platforms designed for Production Optics and Open Division shooters.

As a competitor in these divisions myself, this immediately caught my attention.

Handling the firearms revealed a number of promising characteristics. The platforms felt stable, solid, and well-balanced, qualities that are essential for high-performance competition shooting. In terms of build quality and overall feel, they appear capable of standing alongside some of the well-known brands already established in the competitive shooting world.

The ergonomics also left a strong impression. The grip texture, frame geometry, and natural sight alignment all contributed to a handling experience that felt both intuitive and confidence-inspiring.

These are details that competitive shooters notice immediately—and ZEKA seems to understand their importance.

The Missing Piece: Range Time

Despite these positive impressions, there is one crucial aspect I was unfortunately unable to evaluate: live-fire performance.

Without the opportunity to test the firearms on the range, it is impossible to assess factors such as shot grouping, recoil management, reliability, and overall competitive performance. These elements ultimately determine whether a firearm can truly perform under the demanding conditions of competitive shooting.

That said, based purely on handling, balance, and ergonomics, ZEKA’s platforms left a very encouraging first impression.

The Spanish Market Challenge

Another limitation currently facing the brand—at least from my perspective—is the absence of distribution within the Spanish market, where I live and compete.

For shooters and competitors in Spain, access to new and innovative firearm platforms is often dependent on the presence of local distributors and import channels. At the moment, ZEKA firearms are not readily available there.

However, this is precisely the type of barrier that growing companies often overcome as they expand their reach internationally.

A Brand Worth Watching

What impressed me most about ZEKA was not simply the appearance of their firearms—although they certainly present themselves well—but the attention given to ergonomics and shooter interface.

The grip design, the natural pointing characteristics, and the overall balance of the firearms suggest that these platforms were developed with real shooters in mind.

Even without firing them, the handling experience alone was convincing enough to make me believe these firearms deserve a proper test on the range.

And who knows—perhaps in the future I will have the opportunity not only to test them extensively, but maybe even to compete with one.

If ZEKA continues to refine its designs and expand its presence internationally, it would not be surprising to see the brand gradually earning its place among the established names of competitive shooting.

For now, it remains a company worth keeping on the radar.

At the time of writing this article, ZEKA Firearms has not sponsored, paid for, or influenced this publication in any way. The observations presented are based solely on my personal interaction with the brand’s representatives and my hands-on evaluation of the firearms displayed at the booth. As I did not have the opportunity to test the firearms on a live-fire range, this article reflects an initial technical and ergonomic assessment rather than a full performance review.
