A few months in – still impressed
After several months of carrying and using the Civivi Elementum Slip-Joint (C18062AJ-3), I can confidently say it’s one of those knives that quietly earns its place in your pocket. It’s not loud or tactical – and that’s exactly the point. It’s elegant, practical, non-threatening, and built with the kind of attention to detail that Civivi is known for.

Handle & First Impressions
- The Guibourtia wood scales give the knife a warm, almost vintage character. It feels inviting in the hand, not cold or clinical like many synthetic handles.
- The grain and polish on the wood are beautiful – understated, yet rich in texture.
- Despite the refined look, it’s built solidly. There’s no flex or creaking, and the finish is smooth all around.

Blade & Steel
- The blade is crafted from Sandvik 14C28N, a well-balanced stainless steel known for its good edge retention, easy maintenance, and resistance to corrosion.
- The drop point shape is ideal for daily tasks – from cutting fruit to opening packages. Nothing fancy, just reliable performance.
- After a few months of moderate use, I’ve only needed to strop it lightly – it’s held its edge well for a non-hard-use EDC.
Slip-Joint Mechanism & Legality
- The slip-joint mechanism provides just the right amount of resistance – enough to feel secure in hand, but still easy to open and close with one hand (carefully).
- There’s no lock, which makes it legal to carry in many countries and urban settings where locking blades are restricted (For Germany: legal to carry under §42a!)
- Civivi added a half-stop, giving extra security and tactile feedback when closing.

Carry & Everyday Use
I’ve carried it both at work and outdoors – and it always feels appropriate. It doesn’t scare people, and it’s refined enough to use around others without raising eyebrows. Thanks to the deep-carry clip, the knife rides low in the pocket – easy to carry discreetly, but always ready for use

In conclusion:
Subtle, Sophisticated, and Surprisingly Capable
The Civivi Elementum Slip-Joint is more than just a knife – it’s a tool that fits into modern life without drawing too much attention to itself. It’s legal in many places, handsome enough for dress pants, and reliable enough for light EDC tasks.
If you’re looking for a knife that balances traditional design, modern materials, and practical usability, this version of the Elementum deserves a serious look. I’ve enjoyed every day with it – and I’m not done yet.
