On Friday, August 7, Michael Paa began his trip from Germany to Druten for the Bianchi Cup Netherlands 2025. The journey was long and delayed by heavy traffic. It was after 3 a.m. when he finally went to bed. Only a few hours later the alarm was ringing. At 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, the first shot of the match was fired.
The Bianchi Cup format is one of the most demanding in sport shooting. It consists of four matches with 48 shots each. The Barricade Event is fired at 10, 15, 25, and 35 yards with strict time limits. The Practical Event is shot at 10, 15, 25, and 50 yards, with times between 3 and 15 seconds. The Moving Target Event is fired at 10, 15, 20, and 25 yards while the target crosses in six seconds. The Plates Event challenges shooters at 10, 15, 20, and 25 yards, with times from 6 to 9 seconds. These matches test accuracy, control, speed, and mental focus.
Michael Paa competed in the Production Optics class and scored 1862 with 131X to secure first place. This was the highlight of his weekend at the Bianchi Cup Netherlands 2025. For the second gun match he joined the Standard Metallic Division with his production pistol. He treated it as a warm up for Production Optics and did not evaluate the results too deeply, but still managed to finish second overall.
The shooting range in Druten created a unique challenge with half of the competition held indoors and half outdoors. Changing conditions tested every competitor. Competitions like this are the best way for athletes to grow and improve their skills.
The organizers and range officers delivered a great event. The atmosphere was friendly and open, making it easy for new shooters and spectators to feel welcome. A small gastronomy on site served tasty burgers and cold drinks. At the start of the competition each shooter received a welcome package through a lottery, filled with quality items that set a positive tone for the weekend.
The Bianchi Cup Netherlands 2025 was held over two days. After the final shot, Michael Paa had to begin the long return trip. The next morning he was already back at the PAA Shooting Academy as an instructor, sharing his experience with students. Exhausted but happy, he looked back on an unforgettable weekend.
This short but intense trip will remain a strong memory. Michael Paa is already looking forward to returning to Druten and competing again at one of the most exciting shooting competitions in Europe.
